City of Stratford's Shakespeare Park Asphalt Pump Track
In the fall of 2019, Transitions Bike Parks completed yet another project, with the design and build of a multi-use asphalt pump track facility for the community of Stratford, Ontario. This project was welcomed with warm arms by the city as one of the first out of a handful of asphalt pump tracks in Southern Ontario.
The project was organized and funded through the efforts of All-Wheels Stratford – a local volunteer group advocating for the development of a multi-use skate park in the community. Now in it’s second year of use, we have seen tremendous support and use of the facility, which caters to wide range of user types and skill levels. Blending harmoniously into the existing landscape and adjacent skate park, the result of our work has been well-received as a modern, low-maintenance pump-track that is both fun and challenging to ride.
During a recent visit to the park, we spoke to a handful local riders who gave their take on the project – emphasizing their excitement for the development of similar facilities across Southern Ontario. As we enter into the summer of 2019, Transitions Bike Parks continues to advocate on the impact such projects have for local riders and the communities in which they are located – educating municipalities on the positive ripple effects which can be felt for decades to come.
